Welcome to the Ulster Bank CIPR NI Media Awards 2024, celebrating 30 years of rewarding excellence in the ever-growing media industry in Northern Ireland. These awards acknowledge the outstanding work of media professionals in Northern Ireland and presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase the outstanding ability of our media to report on all forms of news.

How to Apply

1. Register

Click on the "Register" link and complete and submit the registration form.

2. Login

Log in to the system with your email and password.

3. Create

From the Dashboard, select the Ulster Bank CIPR Media Awards from the dropdown and click Create.

4. Save

During the Call for Submissions period, your entry can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. As each section is complete, you will see a appear in the category tab when the entry is saved. At any time, you can download and print your entry by clicking on the icon in the Entry Summary section.

5. Submit

On completion, Submit your Entry as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your entry for your records by clicking on the icon in the Entry Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Call for Entry period, you can make the update and resave as FINAL.

  • Review the entry criteria on the individual category pages on the 2024 Ulster Bank CIPR NI Media Awards website carefully before selecting the category you wish to enter.
  • Entries can be saved as DRAFT to allow you to continue working on them at a later stage. Please note that only entries saved as FINAL will be considered for judging.
  • Review your entry carefully before submitting it as FINAL.
  • Entries submitted as FINAL cannot be edited.
  • Complete an entry form once for each submission that you wish to make. Once you have completed the required fields and are happy with your entry, submit it as FINAL.
  • All entries must be completed in full by Sunday 4th February 2024 at Midnight or they will be withdrawn.

Rules of Entry

  1. Entries must be submitted by Sunday 4th February 2024 at Midnight.
  2. All entries must be submitted via the online entry platform and cannot be submitted in hard copy. Only hard copies are acceptable for the publication categories.
  3. All criteria must be covered within the word count.
  4. Entry submissions which exceed the word count set out per category, may be disqualified.
  5. You may submit the same entry in more than one category, but each entry must be submitted separately.
  6. The decision of the judges is final.
  7. Entrants must have the written permission from its publication’s editor or content manager, prior to its submission in these Awards.
  8. In the event of a complaint against any winning or shortlisted entry, the CIPR will conduct a full investigation into each case and will request detailed documentation from all parties concerned, including the complainant and the entrant. The Chairs of Judges will make the final decision and if the complaint is upheld, the entry will be withdrawn.
  9. In the event of disqualification, entrants will not be notified.
  10. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure the correct text and documents are uploaded within the entry and that the entry is submitted for the correct category.
  11. At the time and date of entry, entrants agree that the information supplied is truthful and accurate.

Michael Crick Biography

Michael Crick has been a journalist for more than 40 years. He was a founder member of Channel 4 News, where he was later Washington Correspondent (1988-90) and Political Correspondent (2011-19). At the BBC he has been a reporter for Panorama; and for Newsnight, where he was Political Editor (2007-11). He has also made films for the website MailPlus.

Crick's first book was Militant (1984), about the Trotskyist Militant tendency. His subsequent works have included biographies of Arthur Scargill, Jeffrey Archer, Michael Heseltine and Sir Alex Ferguson. In 2018 he published Sultan of Swing, a biography of the distinguished Oxford psephologist Sir David Butler. His independent biography of Nigel Farage was published in 2022.

He won Royal Television Society awards in 1989 and 2002, and was the RTS Specialist Journalist of the Year in both 2014 and 2018. Also in 2018, Crick was given the Charles Wheeler/British Journalism Review award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism.

Crick read PPE at New College, Oxford, where he was President of the Union, editor of the university newspaper Cherwell, and founded the Oxford Handbook.

Crick now works as a freelance journalist, broadcaster and writer. He is a lay member of the Council of the University of Kent, and on the board of the Manchester University Press. Since June 2022 he has run the twitter feed @tomorrowsMPs which covers the selection of parliamentary candidates.
